studio prints

Studio prints are created by hand in my studio. They are not limited edition pieces, but each one is unique.

After printing the photo on Epson archival Hot Press, Cold Press, or Watercolor paper with Epson archival inks, I trim and mount the image, either on cradled Birch or Basswood panels. Panel sizes and shapes vary, with depths ranging from 1/2" to 1 1/2". Framed pieces are mounted on aluminum panels.

Each piece is rolled for air bubbles then pressed and allowed to dry overnight.  Next, edges and corners of wood panels are sanded smooth and a hole drilled in the back for flush hanging on walls. Because there is no hardware, smaller pieces can also be set on shelves, tables, or window sills.

Wood panel sides are then stained, or painted with acrylic paint or Unicorn Spit. Finally, a coat of Varnish, Cold Wax, or Semi-gloss UV Top Coat is applied to protect the print from fingerprints, dirt and moisture.
